Ever since my company installed AutoCAD 2014, when trying to print a PDF. Sometimes it only takes a couple of minutes, sometimes it take 10 minutes.

And when we have a 100 page set of drawings, it can take more than an hour to print the PDFs on a printer. The issue only occurs when I print from a PDF program of a drawing.

And I've tried everything. The DWG to PDF driver, the Adobe PDF driver (we use Acrobat 9 pro, but even after going back to older versions the issue still comes up). And I've tried several different PDF reader programs, all have the same issue (or lose some much quality in printing that the drawing becomes unreadable). The problem does seem to come from the new AutoCAD feature of transparencies. When I un-tick the box 'plot transparencies' in AutoCAD, it seems that it doesn't flatten. But, since the installment of this feature in 2014, we have used it heavily and it would be a shame not to have it.

And I've also selected the 'do not include layer information' option for the PDF and plot overwrite to no avail (as ) Another thing to note - when I print an exhibit directly from AutoCAD (i.e. No Acrobat involved), I do not get any issues and it prints really fast and clear. Of course, it's really hard to send a sheet of paper that I print on my end to the client for review 2 timezones away in a timely manor. How do you guys have your page setup? I use DWGtoPDF with 720 DPI.

Is my company (and all 40+ CAD users) the only one with this issue? I was able to create an example using some basic items from a file that I was using (but mind you, it's almost every file that we use). The PDF located in the drop box link has the issue - but in this example it's not too bad (it only does the flattening for 10 seconds - this increases exponential based on the size/detail of the drawing). If you can find me a solution to this flattening problem, I will gold the shit out of you. Let me know if you're not experiencing the same issue or any other questions.

I've been messing with it when I have time and trying to search for anything that may be relevant to solve it, but I don't have much luck. I've been using PDFCreator for years. I printed your sample with it and I can't see any noticeable difference between it and the sample you had attached. See Have you tried PDFCreator? Aashto Lrfd 3rd Edition. I was going through the settings of it and it seems to have a lot more options to play with. It seems to render the PDF as a pic loading over dial up versus bringing in all of the objects one by one. (Not sure if that makes sense?) I think it optimizes the PDF better but I'm not sure how to edit the DWG to PDF.pc3 to get the same results, if it's even possible?
