The main window is tiny, with just space to add the original file (add manually or drag and drop) and specify the output location. Press OK and the contents of the compressed file will appear in a regular one. For an app so small, Universal Extractor has decent configuration options and context shell integration, which is really useful for quick extraction jobs. It also scores highly for its multilingual options. Bear in mind that Universal Extractor isn't a replacement for your normal decompression program - but even so, it is a handy little app to have around.

What it will do is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, compression method, etc. Its an easy, convenient way to extract files from installation packages, such as Inno Setup or Windows Installer packages, without pulling up a command line every time.

I noticed that it would not extract Inno Setup 5.3.4. And 5.3.5 install archives. This is easily remedied by getting the most recent version of the Inno Setup Unpacker and replacing the older version of innounp.exe in Universal Extractor's 'bin ' folder.
