I've owned one of these great little Sony miniDV cameras since 2003 - in fact I like it so much, I bought a `spare' on ebay a few months ago. The problem is, when my laptop crashed, I lost the original load of the factory-original driver software for the camera.and I can't find the original disk anywhere. None of my web searches have found links to reload the driver. Even more amazing, I've started using Sony's own Vegas Movie Studio - but it plain refuses to import video from its OWN camera - claiming it doesn't recognize the device.

What are my options and work-arounds for this? NC in LB, CA. For your computer to recognize the device, if it was being recognized before, would mean that either your using Windows XP or an older OS. Unfortunately, USB streaming is not supported by Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac. But using a different connection: IEEE1394 (i.link or firewire) connection it should work with those Operating Systems.
